GHOST TELLING IN FREE CONCERT

The Ghost Teller (Marilyn A. Hudson) and others will share shivery tales in a free public ghost story concert Friday, June 13, 2014 at 9:10 p.m. in the Pavilion on the grounds of Southern Nazarene University.  The event is part of the Spirit of Oklahoma Storytelling Festival.

Looking into 2014!

I am looking forward to scheduling some spooktacular storytelling events this coming Fall 2014.  As always dates fill up so fast!  I am hoping to be with the wonderful Overholser Mansion people again this year; they had some wonderful ideas they shared on my 2013 October Stories season!  In addition, some scary walking tours and other events are in the works.

Had a Delightful Evening at the Overholser

As always, the Mansion, and its staff, were a delight!  It always seem appropriate to 'dress' when going to the house built in 1903.  On Thursday, I wore a outfit reflecting the 1910-1915 era.  I shared tales told from the time period of the house, its construction and their early years there. The stories being shared in street conversations and over coffee and a cigar.  The 'Typewriter Girl", 'Rock-a-By Baby', and others.  Then, I shared a real tale told by local people, and which they swear is true, of a certain 'haunted bridge' and a mysterious beast.   Friday night, I reflected the era of the 1920's and 1930's.   Each night staff and visitors were asked to share their own 'ghost stories' of the Mansion and they were a delight to hear!

Scary Tales & Twilight Tour

@ the Overholser Mansion!!! Thursday, October 24th & Friday, October 25th, 2013. 

Two sessions each night:  7:00pm and 8:30 p.m. 

In the old Edwardian house in Heritage Hills known as the Overholser Mansion, tales of spirits, shadows and things that go bump in the night will be shared.  The Overholser’s were known to host many evenings of games, the arts and delightfulconversations, so it is appropriate the mansion celebrates this fall season with the art of storytelling.

The tales, collected and recounted by local storyteller and author Marilyn A. Hudson will be about the house, the city and all the delightful things that bring shivers.

The Ghost Teller, aka storyteller Marilyn A. Hudson, will return to tell tales of shivery fun on two nights this October. Two sessins will be held on Thursday evening, Oct. 24 and Friday evening, Oct. 25.

This event is by RSVP only, which will begin October 2nd.  

Admission: $10.00 - adults, $5.00 - children under 12 years.

Party Fun

A recent appearance at a private event gave me the opportunity to try out the new coachman style hat, with its crimson satin ribbons and roses.  A delightful net adorned with spider webs cascaded down the back.

Sharing spooky stories by light from a spider web on the wall and a tall lantern beside me was a delight.

The Ghost Teller will be Back at the Overholser in 2013

It is the perfect combination.  An old, historic house with whispered claims of being  haunted by the gentle spirits who loved the home so well and a storyteller who specializes in sharing stories drawn from history, literature and her own imagination.  

Best of all is the fact the event will benefit preservation of a unique and fascinating bit of Oklahoma City History.

BOOK 'THE GHOST TELLER' IN 2013

Marilyn A. Hudson, aka "The Ghost Teller" is already booking for events this year.  She will be doing a tour in eastern Kansas of two schools and a community event on Halloween.  Book now for your library or school or radio or television program - as October tends to get busy.  

"I specialize in historic legends, 'true haunting stories', classic tales, and some I have concocted from my own - slightly warped -  imagination."   Targeted to adult audience, with preparation she can present a children or teen version featuring classic tales, literary tales, and similar fare. She has shared stories as "The Ghost Teller" at various libraries, community events, including the Shawnee Mall, the historic Overholser Mansion, several storytelling festivals and a Paranormal Conference.

In her other guises she is a mild-mannered library professional, historic researcher, and author.  Her published works include, among others, the chilling story collection, The Bones of Summer and she is co-author of the novel, The Mound.
